The Story Of LeeBB Art
Hi, I’m Lee Bagley-Bramwell, the artist behind LeeBB Art. I may be a little newer to the art world, but in a short time I’ve discovered a deep passion for watercolour painting, sketching, and storytelling through art.
Every painting I create carries a story — whether it’s in the watchful eyes of an animal, the atmosphere of a wild landscape, or even a subtle smile. My journey as an artist has only just begun, but already I have so much to share.
You’ll notice my love for painting animals and landscapes, often inspired by the wilderness. Like many artists, I’m constantly evolving — exploring new styles, subjects, and mediums as I grow.
How It All Began
My earliest memory of art takes me back to primary school in the UK. At just seven years old, I painted a drake (male duck) and proudly received a certificate of excellence. I’ll never forget walking up in front of the entire school assembly to accept it — that moment planted a seed.
Sadly, when I reached high school, art was no longer an option. Because I had to take a language, I missed out on choosing art as a subject, and to this day, I regret it. I scraped by with a D in German — a grade that has never helped me — but what I truly missed was the chance to nurture my creativity.
From Hobby to Worldwide Sales
What began as a personal passion quickly grew into something bigger. I launched my website, LeeBB Art, and began selling my original paintings and prints internationally. My work has now found homes in countries including France, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Saudi Arabia, the UK, and the USA.
It’s both humbling and exciting to know that my art resonates with people all over the world.
The Years Between
After school, art disappeared from my life. I moved through different jobs and eventually built a 10-year career in online marketing. Later, in 2020, I launched my own garden services business, reconnecting me with nature and the outdoors — something that would later inspire my artwork.
Returning to Art
The spark reignited thanks to a friend I followed on Instagram. She had taken up watercolours as a way to cope during a difficult time with her health. Her paintings inspired me, and I told my husband that one day I’d like to try watercolours myself.
That Christmas in 2021, he gifted me my very first watercolour paint set. In January 2022, I painted my first mountain scene — and it surprised me how naturally it came. That painting reminded me of my childhood certificate and proved that creativity had always been there, waiting.
By August of 2022, I was painting almost every day. I created an Instagram account to share my progress — a visual diary of my art journey. Since then, I’ve continued to experiment, learn, and grow, painting from imagination and reference (about 50/50 of my work).
So What Next?
I’m following the flow of creativity and opportunity. Wherever this journey takes me, I’ll grab the proverbial bull by the horns and see where it leads. Just this year, January 2025, I launched LeeBB Art Merchandise and learn how to paint with oil paints.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my journey. If you’d like to see where it has taken me so far, head on over to my shop and explore my latest artwork.
